Oppo Reno Review

The Oppo Reno is a unique and sleek smartphone with a shark-fin mechanical 16MP selfie camera that allows for a bezel-free 6.4-inch AMOLED display. However, it lacks HDR10 support and only has a single bottom firing speaker, though it does retain a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Despite its 19.5:9 form factor, the Reno is comfortable to hold thanks to its smooth and curvy finish. The primary dual-camera setup is flush with the phone’s body, adding to its design, but the phone can be slippery, making a case a good idea.

For those looking for a more refined version of the Reno, the Oppo Reno 2 offers a 20:9 ratio, a slightly larger screen, and two more lenses (telephoto and ultrawide) for a four-shooter rear camera suite. However, there are still plenty of reasons to consider the original Reno.

The Oppo Reno is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core CPU with 6GB of RAM, capable of handling intensive applications with gaming and utility enhancements from Oppo. However, the ColorOS software atop Android 9.0 Pie may take some getting used to. The 3,765mAh battery lasts a full day with Oppo’s VOOC 20W recharging.

The 48MP and 13MP dual-camera setup delivers good quality photos but lacks features such as an ultra-wide angle lens, OIS or optical zoom capabilities. Additionally, the phone does not offer wireless charging and the feasibility of the mechanical hardware over time is a concern.

While the Oppo Reno has impressive features for its price, it may not provide the most value for money compared to other options such as the Xiaomi Mi 9 with higher-end specifications for the same price.

Is Oppo reno is better than Samsung?

It’s difficult to say whether the Oppo Reno is better than Samsung as it depends on individual preferences and needs. Both brands offer a wide range of smartphones with different features and specifications, so it’s important to compare specific models based on the factors that matter most to you.
For example, if you prioritize camera quality, the Oppo Reno may be a better choice as it boasts a quad-camera setup with impressive capabilities. On the other hand, if you value brand recognition and long-term software support, Samsung may be a more reliable option.
Ultimately, the best smartphone for you will depend on your specific needs and preferences, so it’s important to do your research and compare models before making a decision.
